For Sebastian, 7-years-old, playing video games allows him to engage in new experiences and bring worlds from his imagination to life. These games also permit Sebastian to escape from his life-threatening medical condition, inflammatory kidney disease.
When it came time for Sebastian to decide on a wish, he did not have to think for long. He wanted a new computer along with “a green desk to put my computer on and a big, comfy chair that spins around really fast,” Sebastian said.
Having no idea when his wish would take place, on July 23, 2016, Sebastian and his family were invited to Bandimere Speedway for a very special surprise. As Sebastian entered the Make-A-Wish Funny Car tent, he was greeted by Tommy Johnson Jr. and Terry Chandler. They showered Sebastian with wonderful gifts and treats, but they saved the best surprise for last. With a large sign in hand, Tommy shared with Sebastian that his wish was going to be granted on Monday, July 25.
Monday could not come soon enough for Sebastian. As the limo arrived, Sebastian’s wish day had begun. He and his family ate at Sebastian’s favorite restaurant, IHOP before heading to GameStop. At GameStop, he was able to explore each gaming aisle and select the perfect games for his new computer. Once the shopping bags were filled, it was off to the final destination. As Sebastian exited the limo and entered his home, he was grinning ear-to-ear. In front of him was an incredible gaming study with everything he had hoped for and more. “Each morning since his wish, Sebastian eagerly gets out of bed and is faced with the most difficult challenge, which game to play on his computer” shared Teresa, Sebastian’s grandmother, “he is just so happy.”
