Like most 9-year-old boys, Chase is always ready to play. He loves to fish, hike, and spend all his free time outside. Last October, Chase’s life was turned upside down when he was diagnosed with cancer. His rigorous chemotherapy treatments and many hospital visits left him with little time or energy to do all the things he loved.
Chase was referred to Make-A-Wish® Colorado shortly after his diagnosis. Initially, Chase did not know what to wish for, but after watching “Treehouse Masters,” his favorite show, it was only fitting that he wished for his very own treehouse - a place to have endless fun, exploring and using his imagination.
“Chase always wants to travel or go explore,” said mom, Kristy. “But his treatments made that hard.”
In April, Chase came home to a big surprise – his very own Indiana Jones themed treehouse! Inside, the walls were decorated with posters, maps and an assortment of books, globes, and his favorite toys. He even received his very own Indiana Jones hat to wear when he feels like exploring.
“It blew my mind,” said Chase. “I was amazed that so many people helped make my treehouse come true. It was so awesome!”
Chase has been able to enjoy his treehouse all summer and uses his treehouse for everything – he even does his homework in it! Later this month, Chase will celebrate the completion of his chemotherapy by throwing a party with family, friends, and people he met during the wish process.
For Chase and his family, the wish was such an extraordinary time that they hope to raise the funds to help grant another child’s wish, something as memorable and exciting as Chase’s own wish!
