Alondra was diagnosed with liver complications when she was only 2 years old. After the initial diagnosis, Alondra and her family spent a lot of time in and out of the emergency room getting treatment. She had to follow a restrictive diet and was not able to play or participate in activities like other children. The stress of all the limitations and treatment had a large impact on Alondra’s emotional well-being which made things even more difficult. Eventually, Alondra’s liver complications led to a liver transplant. The transplant was successful, and now, at age 7, Alondra is finally able to let her guard down and live life to the fullest.

Like many young kids, Alondra likes rabbits, popsicles, reading and watching movies. She especially likes the movie, Frozen, because of the ice queen and ice princess characters in the movie.  Her love for the movie, its uplifting songs and magical characters ultimately inspired her wish from Make-A-Wish Colorado to have a Frozen party.

On the day of Alondra’s wish, she and her immediate family were picked up in a limousine and taken to the Hyatt Hotel where her Frozen party would take place. All of Alondra’s family attended the special event. There were also Alondra’s favorite foods, face painting, snow cone machines, a table filled with candy and even the snow princess and queen made a surprise appearance! Alondra and her family felt “blessed, happy and loved all day.”

For Alondra’s parents, the Frozen party was a dream come true. For Alondra, the wish was an opportunity for her to celebrate the joys of being a kid and be treated like a princess. She was able to eat her favorite foods, play, dance, and open presents. Her family said every moment of the day was unforgettable. The event was so great that the family was unable to pick one favorite part. Instead they said their favorite memories were from “the moment they were picked up from their home in a limousine to the moment they were dropped off.” All of Alondra’s friends and family enjoyed themselves too, but especially liked seeing Alondra smile.

In the eyes of the family the wish, “was a light of hope after a very long journey.” Alondra continues to watch videos and look at photos from her wish experience remembering all the fun she had that day.

“It's time to see what I can do. To test the limits and break through. No right, no wrong, no rules for me I'm free!” – These are the words from the snow princess from Frozen about viewing the world in a new light. Alondra’s wish experience gave her the courage to explore the world in a new way because she isn’t the sick girl she used to be. With her new liver, and healthy outlook on life, anything is possible.
