Rhyse, an eight-year-old liver transplant recipient, has overcome numerous obstacles in her young life. Her various health complications that led to a transplant surgery and her current fight to continue to heal are unavoidable truths that she rarely gets a break from. In hopes of giving her a much-deserved escape, Make-A-Wish® Colorado was excited to give Rhyse a chance to wish for anything.
When Rhyse was asked about her one true wish, she immediately mentioned a trip to France. Her fascination with the beautiful city started with a dream to see a spectacular sunset in Paris. Her interest in all things Paris continued to blossom after she began researching the city. She was truly invested in the trip! Her parents even gave her a travel-sized English-French dictionary so that she could begin to learn common French phrases. “Rhyse had a blast. We got to see the Louvre - and she loved the Mona Lisa… We saw the Chateau Vincennes built in the 14th century which was amazing -she got to check seeing a castle off her bucket list,” said her mom. By the end of the Paris adventure, Rhyse had discovered her obsession with French food; namely, the three “C’s:” Crepes, Croissants and Cappuccinos.
Rhyse’s love for the City of Love grew tremendously after being surrounded by French culture, history and cuisine. This adventure will be a cherished experience that both Rhyse and her family will look back on for years to come.
