One of the things 17-year-old Gretchyn shares with her family of eight is a love for fun. She and her five siblings all love playing games together and her parents love seeing them be with one another. In this way, Gretchyn, although diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease, still finds time to enjoy life and make memories with her family.
Make-A-Wish® Colorado granted Gretchyn a wish to go to Walt Disney World Resorts® and Universal Studios®. As someone who had voraciously read all seven Harry Potter books, she couldn’t wait to see the wizarding world come to life. Additionally, what better to take her mind off her illness than to go to a place where she and her family could just have fun?
Each day was filled with excitement at the parks. Gretchyn, her parents and all her siblings spent hours going on every ride they could and enjoying time together. Since Gretchyn was the leader, she gravitated towards all the thrill rides and her family eagerly followed! They ran from one adventure to the next, taking in all the parks had to offer.
The highlight of the whole trip was the journey to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™. Gretchyn felt like she had stepped directly into the movie and the only downside of the whole day was that once the park closed, everyone had to stop drinking Butterbeer!
“It was hard to see the end of the week come, but we [enjoyed] our time away,” said Gretchyn’s mom. She and all the others are thankful to Make-A-Wish for giving Gretchyn such an amazing experience that they could share together.
