Ten-year-old Gabe is battling a neuromuscular disorder. The illness requires an extra amount of patience and determination to overcome but ultimately hasn’t taken away from Gabe’s spirit. He’s a very engineer-minded kid who loves to plan and build. LEGOS® are one of his favorite toys because he can dream up a final model, plan it out, then put it together to make something great.
When he learned about the opportunity to have a wish granted, he told Make-A-Wish® Colorado that LEGOLAND would be a great adventure and he would love to experience a great big world filled with his favorite things. More than that, the trip would also give him the freedom to just have fun and not worry at all about the daily challenges of his illness.
Gabe felt special and treasured and he enjoyed every element of the trip. From meeting LEGO characters, to buying LEGO brick souvenirs and working toward his goal of riding every roller coaster in the park! He especially enjoyed the behind-the-scenes tour with a LEGO Master Builder, when he was given the chance to build a LEGO robot that was not sold in stores. Additionally, he looked forward to receiving and building a new LEGO set at the hotel each night.
“We are greatly appreciative of Make-A-Wish and all they do to grant these wishes. Gabe said his trip was a time he’ll never forget,” said Gabe’s parents.
