When dealing with a critical illness, fear and stress are two overwhelming feelings that can affect the daily lives of everyone involved. Evelyn, a twelve-year-old cancer fighter, wished to go to Walt Disney World ® Resorts and see the happiest place on earth. “It gave us a break from dealing with the day-to-day medical issues and we were able to spend quality time together as a family,” her mom explained. “Even though Evelyn had been very sick the weeks and days before the trip, she was able to relax and just be a kid.”
Evelyn’s favorite part of the wish trip was the special treatment that she and her family received from the park staff. Walt Disney World is an enchanting place full of magic that allowed Evelyn’s family to accept the fantasy as their temporary reality. This magic gave Evelyn and her family a chance to bond and relax, in lieu of all of the real-life stressors that they were able to leave behind during this unforgettable trip.
