“I want to do everything!” Clara, a sweet and talkative six-year-old, couldn’t contain her excitement when she was told that Make-A-Wish® Colorado was going to grant her wish to explore Walt Disney World® Resorts. At the top of her long list of Disney activities, was her desire to meet all of the Disney princesses! Clara also expressed her anticipation to travel through the airport with her very own Frozen-themed suitcase, to see the enchanted castle and to watch the firework show.
Due to her congenital heart disease, Clara has spent much of her life in the hospital. As a result of this, she is anxious and fearful of many things. Before the Orlando trip, this little girl was afraid of riding down a normal park slide or even pedaling on a bike. However, this wish adventure dramatically changed things for the better by giving her a newfound bravery and confidence in herself and the world around her. When planning their time in the park, Clara expressed interest in riding the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train rollercoaster. Her family was completely surprised at her determination and interest in riding this rollercoaster! “We were shocked, Clara LOVED the roller coasters,” said wish mom Joanna. “We rode every single one she was tall enough for and I have seen a huge boost in her confidence that came home with her. I saw Clara empowered to go for the thrill. She was so happy. She had a permanent smile, just full of joy and running toward excitedly wanting to do more like Splash Mountain.”
This unforgettable experience has not only given Clara and her family amazing memories to look back on, but it has benefited Clara in incredible ways that will allow her to now enjoy life to its fullest.
