From the first time six-year-old Blake heard he had been granted a wish from Make-A-Wish® Colorado until he returned from his trip, the excitement he and his family had never wavered.
An avid LEGO® builder, Blake knew right away he wanted to go to LEGOLAND®.
Blake fights a blood disorder every day of his life. With this battle, Blake and his family are constantly thinking about his medical needs, leaving little time for vacations and traveling.
“Blake’s wish gave us a chance to focus on making family memories and connections instead of focusing on medical needs,” Blake’s mom said.
To get to the land of LEGO, Blake and his family flew to San Diego. Before the plane took off, Blake was greeted by the flight crew, including the pilot, who let Blake sit in his seat. Once in LEGOLAND, Blake received VIP treatment. He was able to skip the long lines and even had a tour of the model builder shop.
“That was a one of a kind experience for the whole family,” his mom said.
When they weren’t at LEGOLAND, Blake and his family were exploring SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo, all while making memories and building hope to travel more as a family in the future.
“Our trip gave us a new energy and outlook on life, and has sparked many conversations about what other fun things we can plan for the future."
