When you think about being a kid, hospital trips and finger pricks might not be what comes to mind. For Greyson, that has been exactly what the past two years have been. After being diagnosed with a blood disorder, Greyson’s life took a turn that no one was expecting. He spent more and more time at the doctor and his mom was worried that he might be missing out on precious childhood years.
Hope was granted to Greyson when he learned that his social worker had referred him to have a wish granted by Make-A-Wish® Colorado. Greyson wished to go to Hawaii and swim with the dolphins!
Having his wish granted and swimming with dolphins was the absolute best way to make up for lost time, Greyson’s mom said. They were treated to beach days and fun in the swimming pool, and their hotel stay made all the difference. “We still can't get over what a special, beautiful experience it was to stay there!” she said. When his mom was asking him about living life again, Greyson assured her that even though he got sick, he would live his same life over again, exactly the same. He felt that had he never gotten sick, his life would be lacking the people he met, his experiences and of course, swimming with dolphins in Hawaii.
