Five-year-old Riley loves all things Disney, especially Minnie Mouse. Her favorite show is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and her favorite song is Hot Dog Dance from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Just seeing Mickey and Minnie brings joy to her eyes and comfort to her soul. She is nonverbal, but words aren’t necessary to understand her love for the characters! When deciding her one true wish, it became obvious that Disney World was the place to go! Riley is also a big fan of riding roller coasters and other rides. Disney World was a perfect fit.
During their trip to Florida, Riley and her family enjoyed all the amenities inside and outside the park, especially at Give Kids the World Village. Her family loved the atmosphere of the Village; her mom described their time there as magical. “It allowed us to take a break from all the hard stuff and spend a week in the safety of Give Kids the World. It helped our family grow closer.”
Riley went on rides with her dad, rode horses with her mom, snapped photos with her brother and met some of her favorite “Frozen” characters, Anna and Elsa. However, the most exciting moment of the trip for Riley was when she spent nearly an hour alone with Minnie Mouse. Leading up to the trip, it was the idea of meeting Minnie that excited Riley the most. Every time the mouse’s name was mentioned, she broke into a huge grin! Meeting Minnie meant so much to Riley and it gave her family a very special and unique memory to take home with them.
Riley’s mom summed up the wish beautifully. “Make-A- Wish changes lives. Granting a wish benefits not only the wish kid, but the whole family. It was something exciting to look forward to and the trip created memories we will cherish forever.”
