Sixteen-year-old Rebekah as always been fascinated with musical theater. She enjoys losing herself in the different characters she plays and is captivated by watching others perform. She hopes to one day attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Having dealt with the effects cystic fibrosis for her entire life, Rebekah was thrilled to learn that it qualified her for a wish. She knew immediately that she wanted to visit the "Big Apple" and see a Broadway show.
With the bright lights and skyscrapers, from the moment Rebekah landed in New York City, she was in awe of the excitement the streets of New York City had to offer. From seeing the Statue of Liberty to exploring the museum at Ellis Island and strolling through Central Park, Rebekah fit right into the New Yorker lifestyle.
Rebekah’s favorite part of the wish was her time spent on Broadway. On her first night, she enjoyed seeing Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The incredible acting and singing were enough to have Rebekah on the edge of her seat until the end of the show. Just when she thought it could not get any better, the real treat came when she met the cast of Sweeney Todd after the show. “Before the night was over, Rebekah had not only met the cast but was singing alongside them backstage,” Theresa, Rebekah’s mother, shared. On the second night, Rebekah and her family once again sat in amazement while they saw the Broadway musical Wicked.
Now back home in Colorado, Rebekah continues to reminisce about her time in New York City. “The trip was so special because each adventure was dedicated to everything that Rebekah loves,” Theresa recalled. With only a few years left until high school graduation, Rebekah has her heart set on being reunited with the Broadway stage and New York City.
