16-year-old McKenna always dreamt of going to a tropical oasis, where the lifestyle is relaxing, and the warmth of sun never fades.
A wish trip to Hawaii was the perfect opportunity for McKenna and her family to experience a new exciting adventure. Upon arrival, McKenna felt pure joy knowing she had found her paradise. For the first time, she dove into the ocean and was snorkeling alongside fish. The variety of shimmering colors from the sun’s reflection off of the sea floor was a sight that she had only fantasized about. After exploring below the water, McKenna and her family embarked on a sightseeing cruise. The palm trees lining the island, along with the volcanoes and waterfalls were a stark change from the Colorado landscape she was used to.
McKenna’s favorite part of her Hawaiian getaway was the evening Luau. She loved learning about the island’s history and tasting new cuisine. The best part was when she was invited on stage to learn how to hula dance. She was a natural. Once she returned from Hawaii, there was no more talk about her kidney cancer. Instead, the family reminisces about the island memories made on her wish trip.
