Like many seven-year-old girls, Kinsey loves playing outside, pretending to be a princess and collecting as many stuffed animals as can fit in her room. However, she also has a genetic disorder which prevents her from some joys of childhood; for example, she’s allergic to common house pets, can’t travel on an airplane and has to focus on staying healthy more so than other kids her age.
Kinsey bravely fights and overcomes these struggles every day. When offered the opportunity to have a wish granted by Make-A-Wish® Colorado she devised the perfect adventure: a road trip to California to visit San Diego and Disneyland® Resort!
You’ve heard the saying, “it’s about the destination, not the journey.” In Kinsey’s case, it was about both! Kinsey and her family journeyed in an RV the entire way, which was a fun way to spend time together and enjoy plenty of adventures along the way! Once they arrived in California, they took in all it had to offer. They visited places like Disneyland Resort, Knott’s Soak City® Water Park, the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld® and more!
One of the best parts of the experience was Kinsey’s VIP treatment at Disneyland. She was able to skip the lines for all of the exciting rides and she met her favorite princesses, which made her trip feel magical. She practiced curtseying with princess Cinderella, acted silly with Goofy and gave great big hugs to Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
“Kinsey and our entire family had the trip of a lifetime,” said Kinsey’s mom. “We gained memories we will never forget!”
