With a heart transplant behind him, Dan had one goal, to be healthy enough to go on his wish trip to Walt Disney World® Resorts.
Dan always has a smile on his face. He is a happy-go-lucky kid who embraces each day with joy. So when he was diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition that resulted in a heart transplant, his positivity helped him to face his disease head on. After discovering that he was eligible for a wish, Dan and his family began brainstorming what his wish would be. Wanting something that the whole family could enjoy, and seeing some of the thrilling rides at Walt Disney World Resorts, Dan knew it would be the perfect wish for him.
In a time of uncertainty, being able to plan an incredible wish experience where there were no limitations, helped Dan and his family keep their spirits high. "The anticipation and planning really contributed to his healing," Dan's mom, Amy, shared.
After a year of anticipation, Dan's wish did not disappoint. From Splash Mountain to Journey to Atlantis, each ride was a rush of excitement. VIP passes allowed Dan and his family to skip all the lines and experience Walt Disney World in a way that would not have been possible otherwise. "Watching Dan's delight and energy while on the rides, was by far our favorite part of the experience," Amy recalled. When the fun-filled days were over the family retreat to the comfort of their suite at Give Kids the World Village. "Every detail was covered, we have nothing but special memories."
Now back home, Dan still lights up when reminisces about his wish trip. "It was the trip of a lifetime," Dan said.
