As a 9-year-old child, the only responsibility Annavictoria had was to play with her family and friends from sunrise to sunset. After being diagnosed with leukemia, she dreamt of the day when she would rejoin her siblings in endless “make-believe” play.
While receiving her treatment at the hospital, a special surprise came when she learned that she would soon jet-set off to a magical place where playtime is a mandatory activity. Annavictoria chose to go to Walt Disney World Resort for her wish trip.
From the moment they arrived at the resort, excited squeals and unending giggles filled the air. With the ability to skip all the lines, Annavictoria and her family rode as many rides as they possibly could. Her favorite ride was Splash Mountain, a ride that allowed her to float along a colorful river before a thrilling drop down met with a giant splash. Her cheers were loud enough to drown out the Disney songs that permeated the park. As soon as she was down the ride, she immediately got back into line to ride it again.
After enjoying the rides, Annavictoria was awe-struck when her favorite Princess, Merida, from the film Brave, greeted her and presented Annavictoria with her very own matching dress. “Pablo, Annavictoria's brother, always told her that she was like Princess Merida because she too is brave in her fight against leukemia,” Marta, Annavictoria’s mom, shared, “she has always been our little warrior.”
The whole family gleamed with joy as they finished their days by watching the fireworks show sprinkle over Cinderella’s Castle. “Walt Disney World is more than just a destination, it’s truly a dream land,” Marta recalled. “We returned home a new family.”
