This passion for volunteering encouraged Cathy to pursue degrees in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Art. After college, she became a teacher, inspiring the next generation and she found Make-A-Wish Colorado.
During her 30 years as a Make-A-Wish volunteer, Cathy feels remarkably privileged to have had the opportunity to meet so many loving, courageous Make-A-Wish families. "The ear-to-ear smiles you see as you listen to each child explain their wish, and the boundless joy and excitement that they have when you deliver their wish packet is an immeasurable feeling as a volunteer," Cathy shared. She believes the wish is the light at the end of a long tunnel. The wish kid journey is filled with endless doctor visits, tests, treatments, hospital stays, and recovery days. "The smiles on their faces warms your heart to the core". She can't imagine a deeper feeling of satisfaction, "unless of course, you are the doctor that can tell them 'you are cured.'" That is the magic of a wish and we at Make-A-Wish Colorado can not thank Cathy enough for her 30 years of sharing that magic!
