Corey Rose Benefit Concert Doubles Fundraising Goal!

A benefit concert took place late April at Hard Rock Cafe Denver hosted by our very own 9News Morning Anchor, Corey Rose benefiting Make-A-Wish® Colorado. Rose hosts this yearly event, now in its fifth year, in honor of her father who passed away in 2010 from Leukemia. The very popular horn band, Funkiphino, brought everyone to their feet, but the ones who really stole the show were the wish kids. Rose writes about her favorite memories of the night:

“What an incredible success! The 5th Annual Make-A-Wish Benefit Concert was sold out. It was a packed house and we more than doubled our goal! I am so grateful to the Hard Rock for hosting it again this year. Slacker and Steve from Alice 105.9 came out to help raise money and present the check. We had local firefighters in the house who presented a check on behalf of the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation (and Colton just loved sitting in the fire truck... it made his night).

Corner Bakery came out and also gave a big check!!

My favorite part of the night, always: hanging out with all our Wish kids. Not only did I get to dance with Colton (he’s got some moves), but Jayden was there and our past wish kids, Olivia, Justin and Ashlie.

Olivia, who was our first Wish Kid, announced at the event that her brother, Micah, was giving her his kidney. After years of leukemia, a bone marrow transplant and kidney failure she is now officially cancer free and out of renal failure!

All of the kids, supporters and sponsors there every year bring such joy into my life and fill my heart with so much love.

Thank you for another successful year. How will we top it next year?”

The goal of this benefit concert is to raise money to grant a wish for a Colorado child fighting a life-threatening medical condition. This year’s concert supported wish recipients, Colton and Jayden. By raising $12,456, for Make-A-Wish Colorado, the benefit was a major success and was a night to remember! A huge thank you to Corey Rose and everyone who helped make this night possible, we couldn’t have done it without you!

“Our daughter got to shine and be the center of positive, healthy attention for a whole week.”
