On March 19th, The Cable Center was overrun with high school girls from Denver Public Schools’ Abraham Lincoln High School and Make-A-Wish Colorado wish recipient, Bailee for a day of pampering and prom dress shopping.
Monte Durham, star of TLC’s SAY YES TO THE DRESS: ATLANTA, hosted an unforgettable event complete with dresses, makeup, accessories and a fashion show. Now in its fourth year, TLC's SAY YES TO THE PROM is a program designed to build courage and self-confidence in young women. This program is offered to deserving high school girls in select cities, this year including New York City, Denver, Silver Spring, Miami and Los Angeles. The day is filled with mentoring, prom dress shopping and makeovers. Monte Durham, fashion director and star of TLC’s SAY YES TO THE DRESS: ATLANTA, hosts every event, where each girl is also paired with a mentor who serves as coach, personal shopper and style assistant throughout the day.
Not only was this a special day for the girls of Abraham Lincoln High School, but wish recipient, Bailee. This enhancement will help Bailee prepare for her wish to be a model later this year. In preparation for her big NYC modeling debut, she strutted the runway at The Cable Center for SAY YES TO THE PROM like a natural in her new prom dress!
After all the girls made their way down the runway they were joined by Denver First Lady Mary Louise Lee who read a proclamation from the Mayor’s office declaring March 19 SAY YES TO THE PROM DAY in the city of Denver.
Thank you to TLC, and parent company, Discovery Communications, The Cable Center, JCPenney and Charter Communications for including Make-A-Wish Colorado and wish recipient, Bailee in this amazing event. Photos by Ken Visser, Discovery Communications.
To get a better idea of the true meaning of this event, as well as the toll her medical condition has taken on her and her family, watch the interview between Monte Durham and wish recipient, Bailee.
